Pol Cruchten was born on July 30, 1963, in Pétange, Luxembourg, and died on July 3, 2019, in La Rochelle, France. After studying at ESEC in Paris, he worked as a newspaper and radio correspondent before dedicating himself entirely to filmmaking. His first feature film, "Wedding Night" ("Hochzäitsnuecht"), was the first Luxembourgish film selected for the Cannes Film Festival and won the Max Ophüls Prize at the Saarbrücken Film Festival. He directed several feature films, including fiction and documentaries, and worked with actors such as Philippe Léotard, Ron Perlman, André Jung, and Désirée Nosbusch. His films won numerous Luxembourgish Film Awards (Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis). Pol Cruchten was also the founder of the production company Red Lion.
