Pierre Jansen, film composer

Decades of collaboration with Claude Chabrol shaped his work

They were the ultimate team: director Claude Chabrol (1930-2010) and composer Pierre Jansen (1930-2015). In total, Jansen composed the music for more than 70 films; he also created classical music, including orchestral works, chamber music and pieces for solo piano. Chabrol and he met in 1960, and it was the beginning of a 30-year collaboration. This resulted in a number of French film classics, often with a well-rehearsed ensemble of actors such as Serge Bento, Stéphane Audran and Jean Yanne.
