When Elizabeth returns home from abroad, her parents plan her debut into society, but the energetic young woman has little interest in it. She reluctantly agrees, but changes her mind at the last moment and flees. Rose, who is more of a sister than a servant, comes to her aid and helps her see the situation from a different perspective.
