Cecily, Reginald and Wilfred live in a residence for former opera singers. On October 10, as every year, there is a concert in honor of Verdi's birthday. The arrival of opera star Jean, who was once married to Reggie, properly mixes up the trio. She still mimes the great diva and refuses to be part of the planned performance as a QUARTET. Despite everything, the eagerly awaited, once-in-a-lifetime concert comes closer and closer and without her, Cecil, Wilf and Reggie can't perform. Dustin Hoffman directs - Oscar winner Maggie Smith, two-time nominee Tom Courtenay, Michael Gambon and Billy Conolly are his cast. This lively ensemble provides plenty of entertainment in a cheeky comedy about love and life. Both funny and touching, the film tells the story of four friends who reconcile and whose friendship is rekindled by their shared love of applause.n The Cure and Talking Heads, Oscar® winner Frances McDormand and screen legend Harry Dean Stanton play other leading roles. The music is by legendary talking head David Byrne, who appears in a guest role as himself. Paolo Sorrentino's first film in English and shot entirely outside his home country, THIS MUST BE THE PLACE, fulfills the promise he made with the Cannes sensation IL DIVO three years ago.
