Fifteen prisoners live and work on an idyllic vineyard near Heilbronn. Among them is Thomas Buffler, who committed a murder 20 years ago and is now put to the test of how to deal with the freedom he has gained. He can either win it over completely or fail. When he overcomes this final hurdle, he returns to a world he has missed out on for 20 years, a strange freedom.
