The British family drama “Upstairs, Downstairs,” which became known in Germany under the title “Das Haus am Eaton Place” (The House on Eaton Place), is one of the most successful TV series of all time. The house at 165 Eaton Place is one of the most prestigious addresses of the London upper class in the early 20th century. It is home to politician Richard Bellamy and his wife Lady Marjorie, together with their children Lieutenant James and Miss Elizabeth Bellamy, who repeatedly cause turmoil in the strict and well-to-do household. The household at 165 Eaton Place is looking for a new second maid. When a somewhat brash young girl claiming to be from France and with excellent references comes to apply, she is initially hired on a trial basis and given the name Sarah by the lady of the house. After only a short time, Sarah's relationship with the rest of the staff at the elegant household is put to the test when she steals food and sells it. The servants sit in judgment...
