During the US Civil War, five prisoners of war manage to escape in a balloon. They are driven far out to sea to an unknown island, far away from civilization. The legendary Captain Nemo (world star Omar Sharif), who is stuck in a huge underground grott e with his submarine Nauti lus, watches the group. When the stranded are discovered by pirates, Nemo helps them with a large array of his super technology. March 1865, at the end of the American Civil War, five brave men and dog "Top" managed to extricate themselves from the beleaguered headquarters of the Southerners, where they were declared prisoners of war. A hurricane ripped their filled balloon 11000 km away, until they finally stranded on a mysterious island. A series based on the fantastically adventurous novel by Jules Verne.
