Art Comes from the Beak the Way It Has Grown

Artists with disabilities work on their creations at the Mosaik art workshop in Berlin. Sabine Herpich observes them at work and focuses on the institution itself, the processes, the staff and the premises. She succeeds in focusing not on the people's disabilities, but on their artistic work. The institution is formed around this and thus becomes primarily visible as an institution for art and not as an institution for people with disabilities. The idea of art becomes holistic, includes the people who make it as well as the places where it is produced, means seeing the works, talking about them, but also means: art as work, with working hours and salary. The filmmaker herself is not invisible. She asks the artists about their thoughts, ideas and approaches.
