Clean (played by Adrien Brody, star of “The Pianist”) is the name of the man with the telling name who collects garbage in the run-down neighborhoods of a poor small town. Clean's life is also weighed down by an inner burden: in addition to his violent past, the man is deeply affected by the loss of his young daughter.
Life as a garbage collector gives him structure, but only limited peace, even though he wants to find it: Clean lives spartanly. In his spare time, he repairs all kinds of things and helps out his neighbor Dianda (Chandler DuPont). However, when the activities of a local drug lord become increasingly brutal and Dianda is also in danger of slipping into a life of crime, he is forced to reactivate his own potential for violence.
“Adrien Brody, who plays the main character, was involved in the screenplay and production and composed the very sparingly used music, follows in the footsteps of ”Taxi Driver" in this dark, quiet thriller with its expressive visual language. Not particularly rich in social criticism and with a certain tendency toward pathos, the film nevertheless makes an interesting contribution to the genre thanks to its stylistic ambition."
