Grizzlys up close

On the wild Katmai Coast in Alaska, many bears gather every year because there is more to eat there than in the mountains. For bear researcher Chris Morgan, this is a special opportunity to observe the social behavior of the otherwise rather solitary grizzlies. The life of the bears is anything but easy. Even the courtship of females is complicated and not always successful. When adult bears fight with their rivals, it seems threatening, but often also unintentionally funny. A mother bear must have a lot of experience to stand up to other bears here. Cubs, out on their own for the first time, look to families for companionship and must learn to brave the dangers. With Chris Morgan, we get up close and personal and learn that bears are not only big and strong, but also adaptable and smart. And they have one thing in common with us humans: they are all individualists.
