Heinz Emigholz: Decampment of Modernism (I-III)

Insights into a fascinatingly designed Building Art

The artist and filmmaker Heinz Emigholz (born 1948) created an extensive body of important essay, avant-garde and experimental films. For the journalist Andreas Busche, he is "the last significant image analyst of German cinema after the death of Harun Farocki". In 1993 he started a "collection of freely combinable films dealing with products of human design" (Emigholz) under the title "Photography and beyond". As a sub-series, the cycle "Architecture as Autobiography" was created, in which the surviving buildings of architects, civil engineers and designers such as Bruce Goff, Adolf Loos, Robert Maillart, Pier Luigi Nervi, Auguste Perret, Rudolph Schindler, Louis Sullivan and others were shown in chronological order.
