Jan Wagner

With the CARTE BLANCHE series, the Filmwerkstatt Düsseldorf invites filmmakers to choose eight of their personal favourite films from the range offered by filmfriend. Jan Wagner, born in Weil am Rhein in 1971, studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1992 - 98. He then went to the Cité des Arts in Paris on an academy scholarship and to Tokyo in 2000 on a DAAD scholarship. From 2001 - 03 he studied as a postgraduate at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, where he also taught from 2004 - 06. Since 2010 he has worked as a freelance curator for the Filmwerkstatt Düsseldorf, since 2013 as its artistic director. He is the father of two children and lives in Düsseldorf.
