Laurentia Genske was born in Cologne. She studied documentary film directing at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Television in Cuba. During her studies, she made the documentaries Am Kölnberg, El Manguito and Afuera. Her graduation film Am Kölnberg and her debut film Zuhurs Töchter were released in German cinemas. Her films have been invited to internationally renowned festivals and have won numerous awards. This collection is part of the CARTE BLANCHE series, in which the Filmwerkstatt Düsseldorf invites filmmakers to select eight favorite films from the filmfriend catalog.
