Stephan Macháč is an artist and the coordinating officer for photography of the state capital Düsseldorf. He studied media art at the HfG Karlsruhe and graduated as a master student of Katharina Sieverding's Visual Culture Studies class at the Berlin University of the Arts. He comes from an active practice in photography and art and has initiated and organised numerous cross-disciplinary projects such as the "Studio for Artistic Research". He is co-founder of the Kunstkommission Düsseldorf and was theatre director of the Black Box at the Filmmuseum and the Bambi Filmstudio. This collection is part of the CARTE BLANCHE series, in which the Filmwerkstatt Düsseldorf invites filmmakers to select eight favorite films from the filmfriend catalog.
