Polar Park

At the heart of this delightful crime-comedy series is successful crime novelist David Rousseau (Jean-Paul Rouve), who travels to his remote hometown of Mouthe, the coldest place in France. The man in his mid-fifties actually wants to learn more about his late mother’s past. But shortly after his arrival, a schoolgirl finds a severed ear at the local Polar Park. Intrigued, Rousseau gets involved in the investigation and reluctantly teams up with gendarme Louvetot (Guillaume Gouix), who dreams of a career with the FBI. As more bizarre, artfully staged murders occur, Rousseau simultaneously follows the trail of a family secret. The six-part series, created by Gérald Hustache-Mathieu as a sort of spin-off of his feature film “Who Killed Marilyn?”, combines classic crime drama with dark humor, quirky characters, and a mysterious atmosphere that is often compared to “Twin Peaks.” A little girl finds a severed ear in the middle of “Polar Park” in Mouthe.
