Four actor friends - Matt, Catherine, Michelle (Greta Gerwig) and Chad - are frustrated at only being cast as extras. After attending an underground film festival, they decide to drive to a remote cabin in the woods. The dynamics in the group are tense: Chad is in love with Michelle, Michelle is interested in Matt, and Matt has a complicated past with Catherine. When Michelle sees a mysterious man with a paper bag over his head one night, the others initially believe it was just a dream. Nevertheless, the “paper bag figure” becomes an inspiration and the center of their joint screenplay project. But strange events soon start to pile up and the line between fiction and reality begins to blur. And then Catherine disappears... The Duplass brothers' mumblecore horror film BAGHEAD plays with classic horror tropes, but remains original thanks to its improvised style and character focus. At the same time, the film is an enchanting declaration of love to DIY filmmaking.
