Diane's husband recently passed away after 40 years of marriage. Jane enjoys her casual flings. Sharon is still coming to terms with her divorce, which happened decades ago. And Carol's marriage is on the brink of collapse after 35 years. But when one of the four friends suggests “50 SHADES OF GREY” as the next book for their book club, the everyday lives of these four seasoned women are soon turned upside down. Inspired by the racy passages of the BDSM romance novel, the quartet is ready for new adventures: whether it’s rekindling old flames or embarking on new romances: With plenty of charm, the four women decide to shake up their lives in their 70s. This raucous comedy about love and sex in old age shines above all thanks to its well-known actresses and the wonderful chemistry between them: Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen carry the film with plenty of wit and enthusiasm. “Book Club – The Best Is Yet to Come” tells a lighthearted story of friendship, love, and self-determination in later life. The plot may not seem all that innovative, but that is precisely the appeal of a film that relies on humor and optimism. And it thus stands out as entertaining feel-good cinema with a tongue-in-cheek take on aging.
