Mommy

Diane, a single mother, is trying to get her rebellious 16-year-old son back on track. Steve can be very sweet and charming but at other times extremely hectic and impulsive. Diane finds it hard to control Steve's moods but wants to educate him at home and keep him out of the hands of the authorities at all costs. When Diana is up to her neck in water, she meets Kyla, her shy neighbour. An intense friendship develops between mother, son and neighbour, which makes them all stronger. "Mommy" is the fifth film by the young director Xavier Dolan ("I killed my mother", "Les Amours Imaginaires", "Laurence Anyways") who manages to portray this intense bond between a mother and her son in a compelling way. Winner of the Jury Prize of Cannes 2014 and the Canadian Oscar entry for Best Non-English Language Film.
