Peaches is one of the most exciting artists of her generation. Rebel, feminist, singer, performer, artist, producer, curator, rock star. The Canadian artist transcends boundaries and cannot be confined to a single genre. Ever since her hit “Fuck the Pain Away,” which appeared on her first internationally successful album, *The Teachings of Peaches*, at the start of the new millennium and made her famous worldwide, Peaches has been parodying gender stereotypes. Initially celebrated as a new icon of the LGBTQIA+ scene, the musician is now regarded as a pioneer of sex-positive feminism in pop music and a role model for people of all ages who want to free themselves from socially imposed constraints and stereotypes. Peaches doesn’t mince words. She is all about the liberation of sexuality. Philipp Fussenegger and Judy Landkammer have now dedicated a documentary to this versatile artist. Drawing on previously unreleased archival footage from Peaches’ personal collection and new interviews with her and former collaborators, the film takes viewers on a journey through her artistic development and the early years of her career that culminated in the "Teaches of Peaches" album. Released in the year 2000, it became a surprise hit, kickstarted with the song "Fuck the pain away," which Shirley Manson from the band GARBAGE describes as follows: "It was so succinct and clever and hot and fierce and dangerous. It was a porthole into her whole career to me." For the film, Peaches reflects on her time in Canada alongside Chilly Gonzales and her friend and longtime musical collaborator Leslie Feist. A film about Peaches is also a film about the triumph of feminism and liberated sexuality in music and art to this day. An icon of the LGBTQ movement. Featuring exclusive, previously unreleased footage from her private archives, showing the evolution of Merrill Nisker into the total work of art that is Peaches.
