The Ruins of Groß Köris

History/Biography, Germany 2019

The Heinrich Rau Pioneer Camp operated in Groß Köris until 1989. During the research phase of the program, the students learned that the half-destroyed buildings near the school had housed a pioneer camp during the GDR era. Based on this discovery and conversations with their grandparents, the students tracked down old photos, old postcards, and contemporary witnesses: the doctor, the director, two employees, and participants of the former pioneer camp. The students portrayed these contemporary witnesses on site. The protagonists' stories reveal an interplay between the past and the present.
